Guess the Animal Sound: Lumi's Animal Sound Game Is Coming Soon
It begins in the dark with a big, friendly ROAR. Lumi pops up in a sunny zoo, just as surprised as everyone else, and the game is on: listen closely, look at the shadows, and guess which animal made the sound.
This is the episode where…
- a big roar comes out of a dark screen and Lumi asks, 'What was THAT?!'
- three animal shadows appear and your little one picks the one that made the sound
- Bobo tries to roar back at the lion, and only a tiny squeak comes out
- the lion very politely roars back, nice and soft
- a fast round asks for the animal names as quickly as you can say them
- all ten animals make their sounds at once and Bobo calls it a very noisy zoo
Lumi's Animal Sound Game is a listening game for toddlers and preschoolers, and it's coming soon to LumiLand. It teaches toddlers and preschoolers to match ten animals to their sounds: dog, cat, cow, lion, sheep, horse, duck, frog, monkey and elephant. Lumi is the game host, Tuki and Bobo are along for the fun, and ten animal friends are waiting to be guessed.
How the game works
Each round starts with a sound on a dark screen: woof, meow, moo, roar, and more. Lumi asks, "Who makes that sound?" Then three animal shadows appear, and there's a short pause so your child can choose. Next comes the big reveal. After each animal, the friends make the sound together, try a matching move, and sing a short song about it.
The game song opens and closes the episode, and its first line is easy to join in with: "Listen, listen, what do you hear?"
Ten animals to meet
Some are farm friends, like the cow, sheep, horse and duck. Some are pets, like the dog and cat. Others are wild animals, like the lion, the monkey and the elephant, and there's a hoppy frog too. Each one comes with a simple action, from wagging a tail and stretching like a cat to galloping, hopping and swinging a trunk.
The funniest moment belongs to Bobo. When the lion roars, Bobo tries to roar back, and all that comes out is a tiny "Squeak!" The lion kindly roars back much more softly. Near the end there's a fast round, where little ones shout the names as quickly as they can, and then all ten animals make their sounds at once.

Warm-up games to play together this week, no screen needed.
Who says that?
Make an animal sound, like 'moo' or 'quack', and let your child guess the animal. Then swap, and let them make a sound for you to guess.
Soft roar, big roar
Practise roaring like a lion: a tiny squeak like Bobo first, then a soft roar, then a big one. Finish with a quiet one.
Shadow guess
Hold a toy animal behind a sheet or a curtain with a lamp behind it, and guess the animal from its shadow.
